the water bug told you who you are
A Poem Inspired by Nature.
It, with every peaceful drop,
pounds my hair. Each pellet verdant
and pregnant with promise.
Pursuing in unperturbed pace, run and
make a name for yourself, make a face for yourself.
Have eyebrows that jolt with wisdom.
Make eyes that butterfly kiss the air with peace, or
Proudly exhale disappointment through your nostrils.
Will you at least try?
Like the ice in a drink, can it rupture hearts?
If you will not promise me, promise someone, so I can throw a quarter in the fountain for you.
Will other’s expectations mold you?
Such irrational hands can never form masterpieces.
Let temperance raise your cheekbones; make it unmistakable.
Your face a story; each expression a quote for them to repeat for a lifetime.
With inspirational pallor, and confident nausea.
Let your mouth break hearts or conquer.
When fog sets and its thickness fights itself, let your face weave through the mile.
